Unit Position Summary

Lab Technician - Kellogg Biological Station (Hickory Corners, MI)

This is a Temporary/Seasonal position working up to 40 hours per week. The primary role of this position is to assist a graduate student in Dr. Alisha Shah's lab with data collection. The position will be based at MSU’s Kellogg Biological Station (KBS) in Hickory Corners, MI. Data collection will occur at the Experimental Pond Lab which is part of the KBS campus. 

This position will assist with field work including, but not necessarily limited to: collecting fish and damselflies, identifying damselflies, housing and maintaining the animals in tanks, conducting experiments carefully, digitizing all data. 
Dr. Shah’s research centers around understanding how climatic variation shapes the physiological traits of animals, with an emphasis on aquatic species. Students in her lab study qiestions related to physiological tolerance, community ecology, and genomics. 

Desired Qualifications

This position requires some coursework in Ecology, Biology, or a related field. Experience running experiments of any kind are strongly preferred. Ability to follow instructions, work independently, be detail-oriented, and communicate well are non-negotiable requirements. Candidates must be punctual, organized, motivated, and excited about research. Must be prepared to indoors with experiments as well as outdoors for 2-8 hours a day. Must have some experience with Microsoft Excel.
