Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.

Unit Position Summary

The Smith-Vidaurre Lab seeks a temporary technician to work part-time on video scoring, lab setup tasks, and animal care. Duties will include at least 10 hours of video scoring a week, attending group meetings and maintaining an electronic lab notebook, helping the lab set up equipment for a captive songbird colony on campus, and helping the lab care for songbirds housed on campus. There will be opportunities to engage in the lab's research and learn computational skills to work with bioacoustics and behavioral data

Desired Qualifications

Experience with BORIS video scoring, handling small birds, working independently and as part of a team in a research context. Willingness to learn and receive constructive feedback. Detail-oriented and able to solve problems independently while also maintaining open communication with Dr. Smith-Vidaurre and other lab members

Periodically lifting 25 - 50 lbs individually and as part of a team while setting up equipment for captive songbird colony, periodically lifting and smaller loads individually and as part of a team during regular animal care and cleaning
