Position Summary

The Construction Manager for Residential and Hospitality Services (RHS) serves as the liaison between RHS departments and the Planning and Projects office (PPO) to coordinate and oversee medium and large PPO projects, IPF minor project needs, and day to day facilities and infrastructure projects, with an emphasis on space and RHS initiatives; directly supervises divisional projects under $250,000 and serves as a customer representative on IPF projects exceeding $250,000; oversees the design process, project budgets, installation, construction, and closeout of RHS projects.  Ability to work 1-2 days/week remotely after successful completion of a probationary period.  

All positions in RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If you have an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of your normally scheduled work hours remotely, you may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community. Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school with an associate’s degree in construction management, engineering or a related field; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in construction, industrial design, project management; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. A valid vehicle operator's license is required at the time of hire.

Desired Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field of study. Knowledge of MSU policies and procedures, facility operations and maintenance experience. Experience with LEED or LEED accreditation and/or APPA Facilities Management training. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Teams, Excel, Word, Power Point) and knowledge of Planon and EBS. Excellent customer service skills to effectively communicate with a diverse population. Ability to work independently and as a team. Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask, follow-through, and make good decisions. 

The job requires moderate physical effort and involves visiting interior and exterior work sites and entering plenums and mechanical rooms for inspection up to 25% of the time.
