Position Summary

The Space Health And Community (SHAC) Lab in the Charles Stewart Mott Department of Public Health at Michigan State University is seeking a full time Project Administrator. This administrator will join a National Institutes of Health grant-sponsored study focused on historical structural racism and child development across Michigan. This grant is led by Dr. Amber L. Pearson and Dr. Alex Burt. This position will be supervised by Dr. Pearson. The SHAC lab has three strategic priorities, to: 1) lead health-related research that can be used to create a healthier and more equitable society and repair past injustices; 2) increase capacity for a diverse set of students to conduct research and to enhance their ability to engage as global citizens; and 3) inform policy and investment in low-income, minoritized neighborhoods, given the disproportionate levels of chronic disease risk in such communities. The primary duties for this position include assistance with research/study tasks (35%), administrative tasks (30%), analytical tasks (20%), budget tasks (10%), and lab maintenance tasks (5%). Administrative tasks include travel arrangements, time sheets, purchasing, meeting arrangements and minutes, and documenting study materials. Study assistance tasks include participant compensation, study phone/email, organizing events, newsletters, and reports to funders. Analytical tasks include reports and publications, Qualtrics data management, and website and dashboard materials. Budget tasks include ensuring student assistants are paid correctly and forecasting future expenses. Lab maintenance tasks include issuing and tracking keys, printer, and research equipment.
