Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

University Health and Wellbeing - Campus Health Services is seeking a qualified Health Care Assistant to perform in a temporary capacity supporting the Unit. Duties may include rooming patients, ordering labs, performing tests, and other duties as assigned.

Note that this is an 11 month FLEX position with a pre-scheduled unpaid leave of absence. The position will be held for the employee to return to work at the end of the one-month leave. 

Desired Qualifications

Experience performing minor lab work, preparing supplies/equipment for patient exams including sterilization for minor surgical procedures, immunization administration and assisting health care providers during exams; extensive knowledge of computer software including Microsoft products, Outlook email and calendar functions, IDX scheduling software, and Athena EMR; understanding of HIPPA/Fraud compliance; critical decision making skills while under stress; excellent interpersonal skills needed to interact with patients, physicians and nursing staff.

Summary of Health Risks

This position is located in a clinical setting with daily exposure to patients with appointments for a variety of ailments.

Possible exposure to TB and human tissue.
