Position Summary

Postdoctoral positions funded by the NIH and MSU Research Foundation are open in the laboratory of Dr. Dohun Pyeon (http://www.pyeonlab.org/) at Michigan State University. Our research group is uniquely positioned to carry out basic and translational cancer research by integrating patient specimens, unique mouse models, in vitro cell culture systems, recombinant virus production, genome-wide CRISPR, small-molecule screens, and single-cell analyses.

Successful candidates will lead projects to define the mechanisms of virus-driven cancer immune evasion and to develop novel cancer immunotherapy targeting newly discovered immune regulators. These positions are supported for first-year postdoctoral scholars who are committed to building an independent research program through NIH career development (K) awards, and applicants must therefore be within the first year of postdoctoral training at the time of appointment. Candidates must hold a recent Ph.D. and/or M.D. in a related field and have lead-author publications in top-tier journals, excellent communication and organizational skills, and the ability to work independently within a research team. Expertise in cancer immunology, drug development, and/or mouse models is highly desirable. We provide a competitive salary at the NIH postdoctoral stipend level, excellent benefits, and one-on-one mentoring toward K award submission and a successful independent research career.
