IT Support Technician

Position Summary

The IT Support Technician provides comprehensive technical support for the College of Natural Science's academic, research, and administrative computing environments. Reporting to the Manager of IT Support, this position will be part of a dynamic team of professionals that provide IT service and support to the College of Natural Science, home to 28 departments and programs in the biological, physical and mathematical sciences. This position will work with a wide selection of technologies that support teaching and learning, research, and operations while working closely with faculty, staff, and students.

Ideal candidates will have the ability to work well on a team that supports a diverse user base, have excellent communication skills; learn from, and collaborate with, other IT professionals to accomplish tasks and projects.

What you'll be doing with us:

  • Tech support for desktops and laptops running Windows, Mac OS, and Linux
  • Tech support for printers, multi-function devices, and tablets
  • Setup of new tech devices and decommissioning of old devices
  • Tech support of various software and web applications
  • Manage and track Department software licenses, including user maintenance and installation
  • Maintain IT inventory including hardware and software
  • Per form basic server updates, file permission setting changes, and AD group maintenance
  • Perform basic Ethernet and WiFi network troubles hooting and manage basic network settings on various devices
  • Support and maintain conference and classroom projectors and misc AV equipment
  • Assist users with virtual meetings on Zoom and Microsoft Teams

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge normally acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical, vocational or business school such as an Associates Degree; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience supporting desktops and laptops running Windows, MacOS, and Linux, Printers, multifunction devices, and tablets; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
