Position Summary

Researches, writes, and edits traditional and digital media and technical and educational support of the Pesticide Education Program (PSEP) Coordinator. The position works under the direction and guidance of the PSEP Coordinator and supports the implementation of PSEP educational activities and resources. Essential duties include:

  • Assist with the development, preparation, and revision of pesticide safety education and training materials, including presentations, handouts, fact sheets, videos, and online learning resources. 
  • Research and compile technical information from authoritative sources as directed by the PSEP Coordinator.
  • Assist with drafting and organizing educational content based on established program guidance and information provided by the PSEP Coordinator and subject-matter experts. 
  • Assist with the update of existing educational materials to reflect changes in pesticide safety information, regulations, application practices, and program requirements.
  • Assist with reviewing materials for accuracy, consistency, clarity, formatting and completeness.
  • Assist with technical support for PSEP webinars, workshops, training sessions, and other educational programs.
  • Assist with organizing and maintaining electronic educational resources, references, and program materials. Assist with the development of online educational content and resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the PSEP Coordinator.


Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Agriculture, Entomology, Plant Science Environmental Science, Education, Journalism, Communication Arts, Advertising, Event Planning, or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in management, publications design and editing, strong written and verbal communication skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of pesticide safety, agriculture, pest management, or related subject matter; experience working with online learning platforms or digital educational resources, experience with presentation development, educational medial, or instructional materials, experience working in an Extension, agriculture, or other technical education setting; demonstrated ability to research, organize, and summarize technical information; ability to develop clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate educational materials, ability to work independently on assigned tasks while following established direction, priorities, and procedures; strong organizational skills and attention to detail; ability to work effectively with faculty, Extension educators, staff, and subject-matter experts.
