Position Summary

Are you passionate about great food and excellent customer service? Do you thrive in a high-energy, vibrant team environment? We are looking for an enthusiastic Dining Service Worker I to help us craft exceptional dining experiences for our university community. In this role, you will be the face of our residential dining halls, interacting directly with students, visitors, faculty and staff while prepping and serving fresh, delicious meals.

What You Will Do

  • Craft & Create: Prep, organize, and stock vibrant salad bars, hot and cold food stations, and exciting made-to-order service lines.
  • Collaborate Daily: Work side-by-side with our talented culinary team to combine ingredients, portion dishes, and serve guest s directly from active stations.
  • Own Your Station: Keep our kitchen sustainable by applying proper food handling and storage techniques to reduce waste and prevent spoilage.

 

  • Connect with Community: Serve as a welcoming, friendly fac e to our diverse student body, faculty, staff, and visitors.

All positions i n RHS are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Minimum Requirements

  • Casual knowledge of food ingredients and correct preparation and serving techniques is necessary.
  • One-year satisfactory experience as a worker in a food related area or an equivalent combination of education and experience is desirable.
  • Willingness to work a flexible shift is necessary.
  • Standards of personal hygiene consistent with sanitation rules and regulations is necessary.
  • Occasional lifting of 26 to 75 pounds is required.
