Assistant Professor Tenure System

Position Summary

Michigan State University's Eli Broad College of Business, Department of Supply Chain Management, has an opening for a tenure system assistant professor in Logistics and Supply Chain Management to start in the 2027-2028 academic year. Duties include research, teaching, and service. Teaching responsibilities will include courses in logistics and/or supply chain management. Salary and terms are negotiable depending on experience. 

Please note that this is a union position represented by the Union of Tenure System Faculty (UTSF). The university is working with the union to establish a collective bargaining agreement.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Doctorate -Supply Chain Management, Logistics or related field

Minimum Requirements

The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent degree from an accredited university. Candidates must have a conferred Ph.D. in Supply Chain Management or related field as of the start date of the position, and have a demonstrated record of research excellence, commensurate with their rank.

Desired Qualifications

Preference for candidates whose research addresses emerging technologies and innovation in logistics systems. Relevant areas may include AI and digitalization, autonomous vehicles and robotics, transportation and last-mile logistics, and logistics-related platform models. Connections to sustainability, reverse logistics and closed-loop supply chains, or risk and resilience would also be encouraged.
