Position Summary

The Department of Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) is seeking an Administrative Associate to support and facilitate the operation, growth, and expansion of a large academic unit with diverse research and outreach activities including the Child Development Laboratories (CDL) and the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic (CFTC). This position reports directly to the department chair.

 

Duties include: supporting and facilitating the operations, growth, and expansion of a large academic unit with diverse research, and teaching; managing operations of both the department, the Child Development Laboratories (CDL) and the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic (CFT), providing executive level counsel to the chairperson, to the CDL and CFTC directors regarding the development of strategic goals and financial planning, university policies and procedures, and compliance with national, state and local regulatory entities; serves as the administrative liaison to the College of Social Science; assists the chair with the implementation of strategic efforts, manages administrative and clerical personnel, and oversees the fiscal and human resource activities for the unit.  Serves as chief fiscal officer for the unit and develops financial targets and operating indicators. Creates and reconciles comprehensive and mission-specific budgets, analyzes data, and develops forecasting reports.  A key expectation involves contract review and client management, while developing and maintaining positive and effective relationships with partners and external agencies. Provides oversight and administrative direction for grant management.  In partnership with the Chair, CFTC and CDL directors, the administrator develops and reviews clinic-specific key financial and operating indicators and assists with establishing operations goals. Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Accounting, Management or related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in financial or accounting practices, developing research projects, funding and grant practices and/or experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field; five or more years of extensive supervisory and management experience in an academic department or university setting; demonstrated leadership competencies, strong critical thinking, financial and analytical skills; excellent verbal and written communications and interpersonal skills; previous experience in research administration; strengths should include a dynamic yet collaborative leadership approach and excellent problem-solving, oral/written communication, and organizational skills; ability to work independently.
