Position Summary
The Department of Romance and Classical Studies seeks applications for a pool of qualified fixed-term Instructors/Assistant Professors to teach courses in Classics, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish. Rank is determined by highest degree with an MA degree required for an instructor position and a PhD required for an assistant professor position. All degrees must be confirmed by degree-granting institutions at the time of hire. The position can be part-time or full-time and vary by semester, depending on the needs of the department. It is possible that no positions are needed in some semesters. Position is renewable and contingent upon funding and performance.
Position Summary:
Responsibilities include:
Teaching lower and/or upper division courses, based on qualifications, in one of the languages listed above
Holding office hours
Preparing course materials
Grading assignments
Following course policies and guidelines
Attending all workshops and meetings required for the class
Preparing syllabi
Attending departmental meetings, when applicable
Appointments are initially for one year or one semester, depending on scheduling needs, but may be renewed based on funding and performance.
Salary and rank are commensurate with experience. These are non-tenure track positions.

Minimum Requirements
- M.A. or equivalent in Classics, Italian, Portuguese, French, Spanish, or related field for Instructor rank
- PhD or equivalent in Classics, Italian, Portuguese, French, Spanish, or related field required for an assistant professor rank
- Native or near native proficiency in that language and English
Desired Qualifications
Ph.D. or equivalent in Classics, Italian, Portuguese, French, Spanish, or related field.
