Technical Aide

Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides technical support. Responsibilities may include computer programming or operations; research support; medical patient care; technical equipment maintenance, repair, fabrication or operation; or other technical support functions.

Unit Position Summary

Work takes place in a multi-disciplinary, professional campus design studio at MSU’s Infrastructure Planning and Facilities building (Chestnut and Trowbridge Road).

The aid will primarily work as an assistant to the architectural staff - also, occasionally, work will be directed by engineers, interior designers, planners and Landscape Architects. Campus projects large and small, focusing on renovations to existing buildings that include Classrooms, Labs, Offices, Restrooms and mixed-use spaces.

Job tasks include:

• AutoCAD drafting and construction document preparation.
• Site inventory including site photography, field notes and field measurements
• Space layout planning based on room use/function
• General assistance with printing, copying, scanning and filing.
•  Professional communication (phone and e-mail) with campus customers & in-house designers
• Production of presentation materials using PowerPoint, Photoshop and SketchUp
• Candidate will spend a significant amount of time at the computer, as well as time on campus performing project tasks.

Desired schedule:

Summer only - between 8a-5pm, Monday through Fridays. 

Desired Qualifications

AutoCAD experience is desired - office training will occur, as well to ensure understanding.
