Position Summary

A short-term (6 month) Research Associate (Postdoc) position is available with Lars Brudvig’s research group at Michigan State University (https://www.brudviglab.com/) to work with a U.S. Forest Service-funded project focused on longleaf pine woodland restoration. The successful candidate will work with Brudvig and other project team members to analyze existing datasets detailing plant community responses from a large-scale restoration experiment located in South Carolina and assist with preparing one or more manuscripts, based on these findings. Opportunities exist to lead and/or co-author the resulting publications.

The position is for six months, with an annual salary of $65,000 and includes full benefits. The position will be based out of Michigan State University's campus, in East Lansing.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Ecology or a related field.

Minimum Requirements

PhD (or successful PhD defense, with only minor revisions to complete) in ecology or a related field. Data analysis and scientific writing skills.

Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated expertise with analysis of plant community data, including species-level occupancy data. Expertise with general linear mixed modelling and multivariate (e.g., ordination, PERMANOVA) analytical approaches. Fluency using R for data analysis. First-authored papers (published or accepted) focused on plant community dynamics. Background in fundamental ecology and ecosystem restoration.
