Position Summary

The IMPART Alliance team seeks a Research Assistant to support the IMPART Alliance grant housed within the College of Osteopathic Medicine. Join our interdisciplinary research team at Michigan State University’s IMPART ALLIANCE Research and Development Division where we focus on research that helps with direct care worker recruitment, retention, and advancement. Our mission is to use this work to inform policy, programming and to improve the social welfare of DCWs and the individuals they support. We are seeking an experienced social science research assistant to contribute to primarily quantitative research, but with some qualitative data cleaning and coding, conducted by senior researchers which include conducting literature reviews, cleaning data, creating surveys in online platforms such as Qualtrics, coding data, and cleaning transcriptions.

Impart Alliance's Research and Development division is dedicated to advancing the understanding and improvement of direct care workers' roles and conditions. Our diverse research agenda encompasses both qualitative and quantitative methods to drive meaningful changes.

This role involves assisting in the coordination of field operations to support research goals, including planning and conducting experiments, and analyzing data. The individual will collaborate with the Principal Investigator (PI) to design experiments, collect and manage data, and ensure compliance with research procedures and safety regulations. Responsibilities include performing basic data analyses, preparing reports, manuscripts, and articles for publication, and conducting literature searches. The role also includes maintaining research records, overseeing the procurement of materials and equipment, and ensuring quality control procedures are followed in compliance with IRB and funding guidelines. Additionally, the individual will assist in coordinating meetings, public forums, and research activities, and act as a resource for internal and external stakeholders regarding subject-specific research needs.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in social sciences research or research project design or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Strong organizational and analytical skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
