Working/Functional Title

Level 1 Incident Response Analyst

Position Summary

The MSU Information Security team aims to achieve university success through precision Information Security focused on risk management, engagement, and education.

As Reporting directly to the Incident Response Supervisor, this role frequently interfaces with customers (the MSU staff) and focuses on the triage of incoming tickets and requests. IT knowledge will be key in assisting customers with security concerns or requests, as well as processing eDiscovery requests from the Legal and FOIA offices. Where appropriate, tickets will be handled by the analyst, else higher level tickets will be escalated to higher level analysts. To address minor security incidents, the Level 1 will pair with higher level Analysts as needed. Major incidents are handled as a team. Level 1's are included in planning sessions and team discussion for exposure and insight. This is a growth role that will challenge, but in the end expand, the skills of its occupants. Once properly trained, this role will participate in the weekly, IR on-call rotation.
