Position Summary

The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University invites applications for a part-time, 30% appointment, instructor position to teach one section of FW479, Fisheries Management for Spring 2026.

This is a 5-month fixed term Instructor with a 100% teaching assignment. The position start date is anticipated to be January 1, 2026; the position end date is anticipated to be May 31, 2026.

The FW479, Fisheries Management course typically has an enrollment of approximately 25 upper-level undergraduate students. It is required of undergraduates pursuing the Fish Ecology and Management major, and is a curricular option for other FW undergraduate majors. The course meets on Mondays and Wednesdays 11:30 AM - 12:20 PM (lecture), and 3:00 PM - 4:50 PM on Mondays (recitation).

The Department will pay $13,000 for the semester for teaching this class ($2,600 per month for Jan. - May).

Minimum Requirements

An earned Master’s degree in related field. 

Desired Qualifications

An earned Ph.D. degree in related field. The successful candidate would ideally have training and professional experience in fisheries management and aquatic sciences, including familiarity with stock assessment techniques and practices for managing the safe harvest of commercial and sport fishes. The successful candidate should be passionate about undergraduate teaching.
