Position Summary:

Under the direction of the 4-H Program Coordinator, this is a donation - funded position that manages county level 4-H fundraising, providing overall leadership for the public
fundraiser auctions for Lapeer County 4-H. The individual in this position is responsible for coordination of all aspects of the auctions(s), interacting with Extension Staff, Volunteers, businesses, and the Public, in an effort to maintain annual profits for 4-H programs at acceptable levels.

General Statement of Duties

  • Coordinate and attend regular auction committee meetings and provide updates and guidance
  • Volunteer recruitment and management for solicitation of donations
  • Personally visit potential donors to solicit donations
  • Complete Online Donation requests
  • On-site volunteer management at auctions
  • Must be available to work April 10, 11, & 12, 2025
  • With assistance from staff and volunteers, oversee major mailings, auction database, accounting, data entry, correspondence and reports
  • Coordinate local, area, and state advertising campaign for auctions

 

Office hours for this position are flexible with some night and weekend hours required. Total hours worked will be approximately 19 hours a week at $12.48 per hour. This position is an end-dated appointment of June 30th, 2025.

Desired Qualifications

  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Volunteer management experience
  • Experience and proven ability working productively with a team serving in both leadership and
    contributor roles.
  • Proficiency in use of technology (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access) for day-to-day
    work, record keeping, reporting, and team-based communications.
  • Travel in local and surrounding communities and occasional long-distance travel is required as a
    regular part of this position. Transportation is the responsibility of the employee.
  • Ability to lift and carry educational materials, equipment, etc. up to 25 lbs.
  • Other skills and/or physical abilities required to perform duties of the position.
