Business Intelligence Supervisor
Position Summary
As a valued member of the Advancement Services, Solutions team, the Business Intelligence supervisor will be responsible for utilizing business expertise with business rules and data extensions to support the strategic objectives of University Advancement; building reporting standards with consistency and accuracy including development of reports and dashboards as necessary in various BI technologies like Cognos, Power BI ,Tableau, Salesforce etc. The Advancement Services group supports the Fundraising and Alumni Relations efforts at Michigan State University by analyzing, interpreting and reporting on financial and engagement data in order to help support the development of short- and long-term strategies.

Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, preferably in Mathematics, Computer Science, Business or other related discipline:
- 5+ years of business experience in SQL, Stored procedures
- Strong experience in managing data acquisition and data organization required for the purposes of building complex data sets and reports and dashboards in technologies like Cognos, PowerBI, Tableau, SalesForce etc.
- Strong project management experience desired; leading resources on projects highly preferred.
- Ability to clearly present solutions in business terms (in a non-technical nature).
- Capacity to create new ideas for data and reporting solutions to address customers' business issues.
- Expertise in utilizing technical software package(s) (e.g., R, data query tools, SQL).
- 2+ years relevant experience with a proven track record of leveraging data analysis to drive significant business impact preferred.
- Above average capabilities with basic tools of Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Word, & Access).
- Team player with an entrepreneurial spirit and strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Have the ability to query databases and perform simple statistical analysis.
- Experience working with complex, relational databases.
- Master's preferred.
- Familiarity with Kindsight’s ascend tool, preferred.
