AVIT Technician II

Position Summary

The University Repair & Network Technician II will be responsible for providing technical support to more than 350 centrally managed classrooms and additional departmental classrooms and conference rooms. 

Reporting to the AV/IT Integration Manager, the University Repair & Network Technician II will primarily perform the following duties:

  • Install, configure, maintain, and repair audiovisual equipment, including projectors, displays, audio systems, cameras, control systems, and related technologies.
  • Respond to service requests and troubleshoot hardware and software issues to minimize classroom downtime.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and system upgrades to ensure reliable operation.
  • Support major university events, including Football and Hockey games, conferences, VIP events, and other campus functions.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge such as that which normally would be acquired in the first two or three years of college, technical or vocational school in Electronics Technology or a related field; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in computers, electronic components and repairs; or in computers, networks, and data communications; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Requires valid vehicle operator's license where needed to perform duties of the position.
  • Crestron control system and Q-sys programming and installation experience.  BIAMP DSP experience. 
  • This position requires or will require prior to the completion of the probationary period: knowledge of basic personal computer terminology and operations, and the ability to use e-mail and the Internet.
