Working/Functional Title

Ast/Asc/Full Professor - Fixed Term

Position Summary

The Department of Family Medicine in the College of Human Medicine at Michigan State University (MSU) announces the search for a fixed term faculty member to strengthen our health services research in collaboration with a partner health system, Trinity Health. This collaboration aims to explore the barriers and facilitators to integrating evidence-based interventions into unique healthcare settings while pursuing opportunities to disseminate sustainable system-wide enhancements. This position is supported through funding provided by Trinity Health.

The Department and Trinity Health share several research areas of interest, providing an opportunity for this position to benefit from the expertise of both organizations. Current areas of research and programming include health and the environment, system adaptations to support the health and wellness of patients and providers, brain health and healthy aging, and interventions to support patients with histories of trauma and/or chronic conditions, including those from pediatric and disadvantaged backgrounds. The goal of this partnership is to implement effective practices, policies and programs that address health challenges, enhance access to care, and ultimately promote better overall health outcomes for all community members.

Successful applicants will possess a background in health services research, epidemiology, public health or a related field. While all areas of specialization related to health services and population health research will be considered, we are especially interested in applicants focused on health challenges, the prevention and management of chronic and behavioral health issues, and community-engaged and/or implementation research. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD, MD, DO, etc.) The primary location for this position is Grand Rapids, MI.

The ideal candidate will have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications and evidence of success in securing external funding for past projects. Experience working with interdisciplinary teams and implementing system-wide interventions is highly desirable. Ideal candidates should be adept at leveraging resources through partnerships to build and sustain collaborations with community stakeholders, ideally reflecting past experiences in similar roles. For licensed professional applicants, opportunities for clinical practice are available as part of this opportunity.

The College of Human Medicine at MSU is a community-based medical school, offering Department faculty a unique opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in bench science, clinical practice, and population health across rural, suburban, and urban settings throughout the state. The Department collaborates closely with healthcare systems and community-focused organizations, is closely connected to a statewide network of primary care practices, and is expanding its international research footprint.
