Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or on-call position. Provides independent, direct and specialized nursing care as a primary care provider to patients with acute and chronic illnesses by performing physical examinations under protocol. Counsels and instructs patients in order to assist in their recovery and promote health education.
Unit Position Summary
Provides direct patient care services and performs medical acts as a nurse practitioner under the supervision of the Clinical Director of the Infectious Disease Division at Michigan State University. The NP is responsible and accountable for the continuous and comprehensive management of patients to include: promotion and maintenance of health; diagnosing treating, and managing acute and chronic illnesses guidance and counseling for both individuals and families; prevention of illness and disability; prescribing, administering, and dispensing therapeutic measures, tests, procedures, and drugs; evaluating health outcomes planning for situations beyond the NPs expertise, and consulting with and referring to other healthcare providers as appropriate. The NP contributes to excellence in patient care, research, teaching, and provides leadership to the organization.
Desired Qualifications
Prior experience working with infectious disease treatment in an outpatient care setting.
