Position Summary
Basic Function
The Assistant Director of the Institutional Space Planning and Management (ISPM) unit of the Office of the Provost directs and oversees the development of capital project budget planning approvals and reporting; is responsible for budget management of Provost reserve accounts, project plant accounts and unit operational accounts; organizes, administers and participates in annual space, alterations, and capital planning functions for the University; and develops and analyzes reports and database needs for ISPM operations and communication to external stakeholders.
Communication and Interpersonal Relationships
- Deans, Directors, Chairs, Administrators – to exchange information, receive direction and coordinate activities
- Faculty, Staff, Students – to provide consultation, answer questions and exchange information
- ISPM Staff – to provide direction and leadership and coordinate work
- Outside Professional Consultants – to direct and review their work
- Executive Officers and Vice Presidents – to exchange information, receive direction and discuss status and results of projects
Responsibility for the Work of Others
Supervision of regular and student employees.
Impact on Programs/Services/Operations
Errors in budget planning, allocation and projections can have serious impact on College, Department and University programs causing very large losses of time, resources and serious inconvenience to internal and external groups of people.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or a related field; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in budget development and administration; experience in reviewing, analyzing and synthesizing data and development of scenarios and recommendations; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
