Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.
Unit Position Summary
University Arts and Collections (UAC) seeks an ambitious digital media associate with a desire to grow skills in social media and website management in support of the campus wide arts strategy. Guided by the belief that the arts are essential to a vibrant university community that is resilient, inclusive, collaborative, and globally minded, this strategy is committed to advancing the impact and amplifying the presence of the arts across campus. Reporting to the director of communications and marketing for UAC, this position will support the creation of social media content, as well as play a key role in audience development, analytics, trends research, and digital strategy. The digital media associate will have the opportunity to maintain and continue to develop a recently launched university website and build a social media presence and virtual communications that celebrate the arts at MSU.
Responsibilities:
General
- Manages copywriting and maintaining consistent voice online—supports organizational efforts to maintain consistent voice and language standards.
- Manages an editorial social media calendar.
- Introduces solutions to engage with target audiences through digital marketing to the larger communications team.
Social Media
- Creates and manages Arts MSU’s Instagram (drafting, publishing, listening, and engagement).
- Continues to research other social media opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Supports content creation and collaborates with UAC Multimedia Producer and arts unit communicators on content placement.
- Introduces strategies to increase communications objectives and stay aware of industry trends
- Uses Google Analytics, Sprinklr, and social media native analytics to produce monthly “Digital Dashboards” to Director of Communications and Marketing.
- Strategizes and implements paid promotional strategy on social media.
Website
- Updates and maintains arts.msu.edu.
- Monitors news for relevant articles and arts press coverage, sharing accordingly and managing the Arts MSU news page on the website.
- Produces and implements a strategy for search engine marketing, including paid search advertising and search engine optimization.
E-Newsletter
- Researches, designs, and supports the development of an arts e-newsletter in Mailchimp.
- Gathers monthly content and drafts copy for e-newsletter from across campus.
- Monitors analytics and makes recommendations for changes that may improve performance metrics like open rates and click-throughs.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or above in communications, graphic design, advertising, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience working under pressure managing multiple projects and strict deadlines.
- Attentive to detail, with effective planning and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to present ideas and strategies to the Director of Communications and Marketing and other arts units on campus and incorporate critical feedback and recommended changes.
- Demonstrated proficiency in social media platforms, with a focus on Instagram.
- Experience working with social listening tools
- Working knowledge of Wordpress CMS
- Working knowledge of Mailchimp or other CRM
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
