Position Summary

We are seeking qualified candidates with expertise in secondary social studies education. Instructional responsibilities are centered on teaching TE 325, Clinical Experience in Social Studies Education I. Qualified candidates teach secondary social studies in the mid-Michigan area and would be willing to host approximately twenty-five pre-internship secondary social studies teacher candidates in their classroom (one day a week). The qualified candidate is well versed with the MSU teacher preparation program and combines the skills of an university course instructor and school-based mentor teacher.

Duties:

  • Model teaching practices
  • Deliver university curriculum
  • Assess teacher candidate work

Position is planned to recur every Spring Semester

Required Degree

Masters

Minimum Requirements

  • Currently employed secondary social studies teacher in Lansing area;
  • 5-7 years experience as a mentor teacher;
  • Master's degree.

Desired Qualifications

  • Familiarity with MSU teacher preparation program;
  • Experience teaching at secondary and university levels.
