Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum seeks an energetic and detail-oriented Education Programs Assistant to provide support across programs in MSU Broad Art Museum’s Education Department. The Education Programs Assistant is responsible for organizing a team of student employees who work with K-12 and University audiences.

This includes facilitating the communication and scheduling process for learning engagements such as tours, class engagements and events for diverse audiences. The successful candidate will be passionate about working in an educational environment and comfortable working both independently and in team settings.

 

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Provide administrative support for the Director of Education and education team.
  • Coordinate education department student employees through onboarding, scheduling, oversight, and site visits in accordance with MSU and museum policies and procedures.
  • Maintain Education department calendar and staff schedules to support educational programming.
  • Coordinate Education department initiatives across museum departments, maintaining working knowledge of roles, responsibilities, and processes. Including functions such as scheduling, documenting, implementing programs and events, tracking and surveying.
  • Provide on-site support to student employees through direct supervision and planning.
  • Provide clear, timely, and accurate communication to internal and external constituents.
  • Support educational programs through management of supplies; selecting, ordering, maintaining inventory, care and storage and associated storage locations.
  • Provide onsite support for events, tours and programs including customer services, staff oversight and hands-on making activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum two years of related and progressively more responsible and expansive work experience in related areas - administration, student employee supervision, scheduling, event coordination. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends.

Desired Qualifications

Experience working in an arts or cultural organization. A highly organized individual with the ability to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously. A motivated and flexible individual with an interest in broadening their knowledge in a creative cultural and teaching institution.
