Position Summary
Assists in the Feeding, watering, cleaning and handling of large animals in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. This position assists in preparing and mixing feed, potables and special diets for animals; uses power sprayers, steam cleaners and other equipment to clean and maintain building and equipment; maintains accurate records and observes animals for signs of illness and reports symptoms to supervisor; assembles and repairs cages and equipment within animal rooms.

Minimum Requirements
- High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Working knowledge of repair methods, equipment, and tools.
- Two years satisfactory experience as an Animal Caretaker II or an equivalent combination of technical training and experience.
- First level AALAS* certification for LACS** employees. Optional for other units.
- Participate in job related in-service education.
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule.
- Possession of a valid Michigan vehicle operator license(s).
- Frequent lifting of 26 to 75 pounds and occasional lifting of over 75 pounds.
