Position Summary
As a Communications Coordinator, you will be responsible for executing social media strategies to increase the Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics brand awareness, engage our audience, and drive website traffic and conversions including:
- Implement social media content calendars across various platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and others
- Create engaging and relevant content, including posts, images, videos, and stories, that align with our brand identity and target audience
- Compose, review, edit, produce, and duplicate audio, visual, video, and/or printed program materials for distribution to target audiences
- Monitor social media channels for comments, messages, and mentions, respond to inquiries and engage with followers in a timely and professional manner.
- Collaborate with the College of NatSci and MSU marketing teams to develop and execute social media campaigns, promotions, and contests.
- Analyze social media metrics and insights to track performance, identify trends, and optimize content and strategies for maximum reach and engagement.
- Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in social media marketing and incorporate new ideas and technologies into our strategy.
- Review and/or edit layouts, drafts, and information to check for content, readability, and style.
- Monitor social media and engage with external audiences in electronic forums.
- Research materials, interview individuals, and collect information to compose articles, press releases, promotional pieces, reports, or electronic media.
- Assist with web page design, maintenance, and content management.
- Monitors various publications and electronic sources of news and commentary for potential relevance to unit activities.
- Interacts with students and student groups to engage and promote unit programs, provide clarification, resolve concerns, explain requirements, processes, and/or explain goals of unit programs.
- Represents unit at functions, professional organizations, industry organizations, community and related external events.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Communications, Telecommunications, Journalism, Marketing, or Public Relations; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in internal communications; news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation software; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience using Adobe Creative Suite (or something similar) and Microsoft 365
- Ability to work on multiple projects at once.
- Must be willing to work both standard and non-standard schedules, including nights and weekends as needed.
- Strong understanding of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Creative thinker with a keen eye for design and storytelling.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of analytics tools such as Google Analytics or social media analytics platforms.
- Experience with graphic design, photography, or video editing is a plus.
- Passion for social media and staying current with the latest trends and developments.
- This is an entry-level position ideal for candidates with a strong interest in social media marketing with excellent communication skills
- Affinity for working in a team environment and liaising with a variety of stakeholders
- Must be willing to work both standard and non-standard schedules, including nights and weekends as needed.
