SIS CS Developer

Position Summary

The Information Technologist II/SIS Developer is responsible for providing independent complex professional software development support while working collaboratively with technical and functional colleagues in a team environment, using established software standards and best practices to support Oracle PeopleSoft Campus Solutions 9.2, the student information system.

Reporting to the SIS Technical Manager, the Information Technologist II/SIS Developer will perform the following duties:

  • Develop, test, and implement software solutions of moderate complexity in PeopleCode, SQL, and related programming languages to meet functional requirements.
  • Resolve system errors or bugs.
  • Create and troubleshoot API and integration designs with other enterprise software.
  • Author technical specifications and participate in code reviews to improve code quality.
  • Use established IT standards, procedures, and tools including coding standards, version control, code reuse.
  • Collaborate closely with functional and business analysts to ensure adequate understanding of business requirements prior to offering technical design and implementing a solution.
  • Work in a diverse team environment and uphold institutional values of respect, integrity, and inclusion; engage in continuous learning to improve skills in programming languages like PeopleCode, SQL and BI Publisher required to support a student information system.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business or related information technology field, with coursework in an information technology specialization related to the area of employment; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in an information technology area related to the duties to be performed; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible work experience in a software development team using one of PeopleCode, SQL, .Net, Java, Python, Javascript, or related programming languages; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience working in a software development team in a higher education environment, specifically in student administration areas related to academic advising, student records, admissions, financial aid, or student accounts. Experience with PeopleCode, SQL.
