Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

Readers are expected to thoroughly review and evaluate applications to meet weekly reading targets. The application review process is conducted online, allowing for flexible working hours. Work is to be completed remotely, although readers must attend training sessions and participate in regular, virtual meetings with other readers and the department supervisor. The Admissions Application Reader positions are seasonal, typically spanning from July to February, but may extend beyond this period based on application volume and departmental needs. Candidates must demonstrate excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills. Candidates must be capable of setting up a home office with reliable internet access and independently solving various issues, both technological and procedural. A personal computer with up-to-date security and internet browsers is required. Successful candidates will demonstrate high proficiency with technology and web-based applications, as all applicant files are reviewed electronically on an online platform.

Desired Qualifications

Required-
A bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and training is required.
Strong time management, reading/writing, and analytical/evaluation skills.
Must be available to attend staff meetings and/or training meetings, meet workload deadlines and work independently.
Preferred-
Knowledge of higher education student issues.
Experience in student services or admissions in a higher education environment.
Knowledge of and/or sensitivity to issues related to the multiple identities students come with and may write about in their application.
