IT Financial Officer

Position Summary

The Office of the Associate Chief Information Officer is responsible for cross unit strategy, planning and operational services and processes.  Reporting to the Associate Chief Information Officer within the Office of the ACIO, the IT Financial Officer will primarily perform the following duties:

• Oversee budget, accounting, billing, and inventory management services.
• Lead the annual budget process; acting as financial advisor for executive directors, managers, and supervisors; plans and coordinates the preparation and administration of the operating budget for MSU IT.
• Produce, prepare, and analyze financial data and models to be consumed at all levels of the MSU IT organization and assist in decision-making process. 
• Acts as subject matter expert for financial related matters. Provides training opportunities for staff on financial policies, procedures, and business processes. 
• Leads and directs implementations of solutions within the Finance and Budget area to improve organizational processes and outcomes. Manages Finance and Budget projects.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree; more than eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in in financial management; experience with financial statements, general ledger accounting and budgeting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supervising and leading budget, accounting, billing, or inventory teams.
  • Experience with advanced reporting tools such as excel pivot tables.
  • Experience using  enterprise budget and financial systems such as Spartan Financial Planner and Kuali Financial System.
  • Professional designations or certifications (e.g., Certified Public Accountant).
