Position Summary
Nurse Practitioner will provide a full range of ambulatory primary care health care services for the MSU student community and will work in the Campus Health Services Primary Care Clinic. Will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for acute illness and injury as well as for chronic medical conditions, including depression and anxiety. Will provide medical record chart documentation that supports diagnoses and thought process for treatment plan. The successful candidate would be committed to understanding and providing high quality care for the special needs of University students. Clinic hours range from 8:00am to 5:00pm, M-F.
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing one or two years of post-bachelor degree work such as a Master's in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area or a Master's Degree in Nursing; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in direct nursing care in a specialized area; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse and specialty certification as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Michigan. May require certification by the American Nurses' Association in a specialty area.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in a clinical environment involving emergency medicine, suturing of lacerations and initial management of fractures; preventative, chronic and acute primary care medicine; gynecological skills. Experience in health education involving college age young adults. Ability to work cooperatively in a team setting that includes reception and nursing staff in addition to physicians and physician assistants. Experience with peer review, and committee work in developing/updating policy/ procedure.
