Position Summary

The Department of Art, Art History, and Design at Michigan State University is hiring a Fixed Term Professor to co-teach with Professor d’Ann de Simone on music, art, and culture in Bregenz, Austria, a summer education abroad program taking place in the month of June 25–August 7. The position will begin May 16, 2024 and will be a recurring summer position.

The qualified applicant will possess a DM or other relevant terminal degree. The candidate must be familiar navigating in these cities and be comfortable with living and working abroad. The ideal candidate will have had their own experience studying abroad.

The candidate will:

  • Teach IAH 241A: Music in Western Europe and the United States since 1500.
  • Plan and arrange tickets for opera on Floating stage, Bregenz Festspiel.
  • Plan and arrange for tickets for in door opera at Bregenz Festspiel.
  • Identify music event in either Munich or Vienna and arrange for tickets.
  • Arrange for private tour for group of floating stage, Bregenz.
  • Coordinate group activities with Director for MSU trips to Vienna and Munich.
  • Work with Director and Coordinator in Bregenz to arrange all group and class activities.
  • Coordinate program budget with Director.
  • Follow MSU Code of Responsibility.
  • Coordinate with Director on a daily basis to deal with unanticipated events and student issues.

Position is planned to recur every Summer Semester
