Position Summary

The candidate must demonstrate expertise in the area(s) of cybercrime and cybersecurity, particularly as it relates to computer hacking, malware, phishing, data breaches, and related forms of cybercrime-as-service efforts. The applicant will aid in the development and analysis of data to map the various economies of the cybercrime underground operating on both the open and dark web.  The project builds upon prior externally funded research and will be leveraged to identify additional funding to support future projects.  The candidate should have an understanding of cybersecurity and common cybercrime threats.  Qualitative or quantitative skills are welcomed, as this postdoc will focus on developing research products for academic and practitioner use. The position also includes teaching two courses per academic year in cybercrime and cybersecurity, with the potential for training, outreach, and engagement activities with local and national stakeholder groups.

This is a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal up to an additional year, contingent on performance.

Required Degree

Doctorate -criminology or criminal justice or related field

Minimum Requirements

A Ph.D. in criminology or criminal justice, or in a relevant social science field, such as economics, political science, psychology, public health, sociology, or social work is required. Candidates must have completed a Ph.D. prior to the position start date and must have demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching and research.
