The Department of Physiology at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level. This is an exceptional opportunity for an outstanding candidate to join MSU's robust gastrointestinal research community, a thriving group that extends across multiple research and clinical departments. As a part of the expansive MSU gastrointestinal group, the candidate will collaborate with a network of experts fostering innovation in gastrointestinal research. The ideal applicant’s research will utilize state-of-the-art techniques and model systems to study neurobiology in health and disease. Areas of particular interest include gut-brain axis, neurogastroenterology, neuro-immune interactions, autonomic nervous system-intestinal crosstalk, autonomic nervous system development, autonomic neuroscience, and sensory systems. The successful applicant must establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program in their area of expertise, and contribute to teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students associated with the Department of Physiology. Applicants must hold a PhD, DO, MD, DVM or equivalent degree, with postdoctoral experience and a strong record of research productivity including lead author publications in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates must provide evidence of their ability to obtain stage-appropriate funding and have clear plans for establishing an independent research program. Laboratory space, start-up funds, and salary will be competitive and commensurate with academic rank and experience.
