SLE Chief Planning & Projects Officer

Position Summary

Leads the Design & Construction team in management of SLE construction projects under $250,000, construction project support, construction codes, Infrastructure Planning & Facilities (IPF) and SLE construction standards, project design, and interior design; oversees the Planning & Preventative Maintenance team to ensure successful completion of long-range asset plans, facility maintenance planning, energy & water conversation, divisional five-year planning, and project support; steers sustainability initiatives for the division to ensure alignment and contribution to the MSU Strategic Plan for a Green Campus, including partnerships with academics and fostering student engagement; leads the Health, Safety, and Security team in their efforts to provide occupational health and safety training, regulatory compliance oversight and support, emergency management and business continuity, safety & security strategic planning, enterprise risk and security management, and environmental hazard remediation; serves on the SLE Executive Leadership Team to ensure health, safety, and sustainability concepts are integrated into divisional projects and assists with the creation and implementation of the Strategic Plan; partners and connects with MSU departments on various projects and initiatives to ensure divisional alignment, including Infrastructure & Facilities Planning (IPF), MSU Police, Institutional Space Planning & Management (ISPM), Campus Sustainability, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Office of Civil Rights (OCR); interviews, supervises, schedules, trains, and evaluates PPO full-time staff; creates and implements standardized processes and procedures for PPO; directs and oversees the creation of memorandums of agreement for the division as applicable to ensure MSU and SLE partnership responsibilities are clear; represents the division on university committees and task forces as needed; leads divisional project teams as needed.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency conditions, you will be expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. Minimum Requirements

The job requires knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Engineering, Management, or a field related to the employing unit; five to eight years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in project management, business management and supervision; experience implementing strategic initiatives; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Qualifications

Extensive experience leading complex projects, including strategic planning, implementation, and evaluation; familiarity with university operations, governance, and regulatory compliance; proficient in computerized maintenance management systems; strong data analysis and problem-solving capabilities to inform decision making and resource allocation; experience engaging and fostering collaboration amongst diverse stakeholders, faculty, staff, and external partners.
