Associate Dean for Academic Programs
Position Summary
The College of Engineering invites applications for the position of Associate Dean for Academic Programs (ADAP) in the College of Engineering, with a preferred starting date no later than January 1, 2024. The position will be structured as an administrative appointment at an agreed-upon percentage that is in addition to the individual’s current academic appointment. More than one appointment could be made if necessary to cover all of the anticipated duties.
In partnership with the Dean and College leadership, the ADAP will have college-level responsibility for academic program administration. They will be expected to work collaboratively with individual program leaders in the departments and at the college level. Specific duties include:
- Serve as a member of the Dean’s Cabinet, the senior leadership team in the College, which works collaboratively on College planning and management.
- Direct oversight of College-level academic programs/offices and supervision of program leaders in undergraduate studies, graduate studies, engineering technology, applied engineering sciences, and other programs as appropriate.
- Develop a strategic reorganization plan for the administration of academic and related programs that are designed to improve student outcomes while optimizing efficiency and impact.
- Develop new policies and programs to support student success.
- Oversee accreditation and reporting activities at the college and department levels.
- Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Inclusion and Diversity toward achieving diversity, equity, and inclusion in all academic programs.
- Oversee faculty development activities that support improved educational outcomes, including effective teaching and mentoring.
- Coordinate with other College administrators, faculty, and staff, and represent the College on issues involving academic programs.
- Lead or coordinate strategic initiatives and program development activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Engineering.

Required Degree
Doctorate
Minimum Requirements
- Earned PhD or doctorate
- Currently appointed in a tenure system faculty position
- Significant experience in program administration and personnel management
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Desired Qualifications
- Earned PhD in Engineering or a closely-related discipline
- Demonstrated substantial record of effective teaching of technical subjects in an engineering, or closely-related, curriculum
- Experience in successful change management
- Experience in policy development and oversight
- Experience in curriculum development
- Experience in academic program accreditation
- Experience in teaching evaluation
- Experience in data-driven decision making
