Position Summary
Seeking a highly motivated Post-doctoral Research Associate to join a research team housed in the Department of Epidemiology & Biostatistics at Michigan State University (MSU) and led by Dr. Claire Margerison (http://www.epi.msu.edu/faculty/margerison/). Our research focuses on understanding the determinants of racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic inequities in women’s health, particularly before, during, and after pregnancy and on identifying policy changes and preventative strategies to eliminate inequities and promote justice. Responsibilities of the Post-doctoral Research Associate will include designing and conducting research studies, conducting literature reviews and data analyses, presenting results at conferences, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and assisting with grant proposals. In addition, the research associate will be expected to take a leadership role on at least one project (chosen in consultation with Dr. Margerison and based on his/her skills and interests) and to develop an NIH proposal (e.g., a K99/R00). The research associate will receive advanced training from Dr. Margerison in relevant areas including proposal-writing and will have the opportunity to collaborate with other faculty in the Department and across MSU.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Epidemiology, Health Services Research or related field
Minimum Requirements
- A doctoral degree or equivalent in epidemiology, health services research, or a related field.
- Demonstrated scientific writing ability
- Proficiency in data management and analysis data of large administrative data and survey data using either SAS, R, or Stata.
- Ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues
- Excellent time-management skills and ability to work independently on multiple projects simultaneously
Desired Qualifications
- Subject-matter knowledge in one or more of the following: perinatal epidemiology, social epidemiology, health services research, health economics, health policy
- Experience with quasi-experimental analysis, such as difference-in-difference models
