Position Summary

Annual Minimum Salary is $70,000.00, maximum is dependent upon on experience.  MSU Benefits - Free comprehensive health care for you and your family as well as a 10% contribution toward your retirement; Generous sick, vacation, personal and holiday time.

This position will manage construction projects with budgets from $1M+. This includes creating purchase requisitions, auditing and processing financial transactions such as payment applications, change orders (increases to the purchase order) ensuring that all costs are allowable and in compliance with Michigan State University's Manual of Business Procedures. This position will enter project budgets, reconcile project accounts, and address any accounting or budget issues that arise on assigned projects. 

This position will use various software to accomplish tasks; Microsoft 365 Office Suite, a project management software, a work control system, and a process documentation software (i.e. Unifier, Planon, and Nintex Process Manager).

This position is end-dated for 3 years from date of hire, with possible extension. This position is eligible for hybrid-remote work after sufficient training ( 6-12 months).  Regardless of remote status, all employees are required to regularly attend to work tasks and responsibilities.  

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in supervision, accounting procedures and developing accounting controls, policies and procedures; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. May require certification as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge of MSU Accounting/Business policies and procedures, including experience with EBS; knowledge of facilities operations; strong project management, organizational, and data analysis skills; proficiency in Microsoft Office 365; experience with work order management systems (such as Planon) and project management software (such as Unifier systems); construction knowledge helpful, strong communication skills, both oral and written; ability to work independently and with individuals and teams at all levels in the organization; strong ability to multi-task while paying attention to detail.

A creative and innovative lifelong learner with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population; able to problem solve within a collaborative team environment; ability to understand different perspectives while utilizing expert knowledge of the technical operations of the job.
