Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The National Science-funded events bring together teams of NSF-funded researchers and are focused on capacity building and networking for cross-disciplinary research teams. The event coordinator will work 10 - 20 hours each per week, at $20 per hour from August - May. The ideal candidate will be available to start remote work no later than September 2024. 

 

Duties: 

-Assist with project activities, including but not limited to event and workshop support and contributing to project deliverables. 

  • Assist with the coordination and implementation of funded events according to established timelines and budgets, including: researching event locations and developing support documents to facilitate decision-making by leadership, coordination of hotel, catering and AV logistics, develop event materials such as programs, signs and agendas, manage event registration and email communication with participants regarding logistics. 

Duties:

- Build and maintain relationships with, unit partners in the College of Arts and Letters, partner vendors, caterers, and event staff, representing TDIC in a professional manner. 

-Attend bi-weekly project management, budget, planning, and other relevant meetings. 

Desired Qualifications

- Excellent time management and organizational skills 

- Excellent written/oral/digital communication skills 

- Experience and confidence using Zoom, both Microsoft and Google suites of tools, Slack, and Qualtrics (preferred) 

- Experience with team building, leadership development, and or interpersonal communications including the ability to promptly read and reply to emails and chat during established work hours. 

- Attention to detail 

- Ability to work under deadlines with minimal supervision 

- Ability to work on a team both in-person and virtually as required 

- Creative thinking and problem solving 

- Negotiation skills
