Position Summary

The Inventory Control Facilities Supervisor oversees the stock inventory for REHS Central Maintenance and the on-campus apartments. This position supervises, schedules, prioritizes, assigns and evaluates the work of support staff and student staff; manages monthly/yearly counts of inventory; reconciles variances between the integrated work order management system and hand counts; oversees the history of part usage to determine whether or not it continues to be stocked; works to consolidate storage locations of inventory; manages modifications to the inventory control system; forecasts needs and orders supplies in order to maintain inventory levels; and investigates cost reducing measures in our inventory. Ensures that inventory is ordered, received and billing is correct. Assists with projects related to inventory control practices.

This position would require a successful candidate to work on site.

All positions in SLE are designated as critical status. In the event of a university closure, modification, or suspension of operations due to snow or other emergency condition, persons in this position are expected to make all reasonable attempts to report to work as scheduled for the duration of the closure/suspension. If a person has an approved remote work agreement to work a portion of their normally scheduled work hours remotely, they may be called upon to work on-site to serve the MSU community.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which would be acquired in the first two or three years in college, technical, vocational or business school with coursework in a field related to the area of employment; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in performing tasks related to the area of employment, and may require one to three years supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
