Surgery Nurse - Weekends
Provides patient care for ill and injured animals in the Surgery unit of the Veterinary Medical Center. This position works primarily in the operating rooms of the Small Animal Clinic, with occasional work in Large Animal Surgery, Radiology, Anesthesia Support Center, and Emergency and Critical Care. The position instructs, and demonstrates techniques to students, assists students and clinicians in their work, and maintains supplies, equipment, and cleanliness of hospital areas.
Experience as a veterinary technician in an educational setting.

Working schedule is two twelve-hour days on Saturday and Sunday during daytime hours for a 60% position.

Will be required to lift medical equipment and animals into cages; carry animals between cages and exam tables/gurneys; push carts containing animals and equipment to other areas of the hospital; climb stairs carrying lab samples; restrain animals. Lifting up to 50lbs individually and up to 150lbs as a team.
Working with animals or unfixed tissue. May wear respirator. Possible exposure to zoonotic diseases.
