Research Associate-Fixed Term

Position Summary

The Lundquist lab group is looking for a Research Associate to assist in the study of plastoglobules and their roles in regulation of photosynthesis.

Duties will include:

• Cyanobacterial growth and handling, including genetic manipulation
• Confocal microscopic investigation of fluorescent-tagged proteins
• Photosynthetic measurements of cyanobacterial cultures and plant leaf tissue
• Mentoring and supervision of student workers
• Detailed recordkeeping
• Regular participation in lab meetings and other opportunities for scientific exchange and discussion
• Writing research articles

Required Degree

Doctorate -Plant biochemistry or related

Minimum Requirements

• PhD in plant biochemistry or allied field
• Proven ability to effectively communicate research results in written and oral form
• Strong track record in the growth, handling and genetic manipulation of cyanobacteria
• Expertise with in vitro protein biochemistry, including purification and enzymatic assay setup
• Demonstrated expertise with confocal fluorescence microscopic investigation of sub-cellular protein localization using fluorescent tagging

Desired Qualifications

• Demonstrated expertise with biochemical assays including lipase and acyltransferase activity
• Good organizational and time management skills
