Position Summary
The department of Pharmacology and Toxicology is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Carmo Costa for a one-year, fixed-term position, with the possibility of renewal based on performance & funding availability. The Costa Lab focuses on uncovering the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration, with a strong emphasis on identifying novel therapeutic targets and drug candidates for neurodegenerative diseases. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to impactful research in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and conduct experiments related to the lab’s research objectives
- Supervise and provide guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as lab staff and technicians
- Analyze experimental data, including large and complex datasets
- Prepare manuscripts for publication and contribute to grant writing
- Present research findings at lab meetings, conferences, and other scientific forums

Required Degree
Doctorate -Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field
Minimum Requirements
- Doctorate - Neuroscience, Pharmacology or related field.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with:
- human stem cell cultures and organoid cultures
- coding - basic level
- rodents (preferably mice)
- data presentation and statistical data analysis
- large-data analysis (e.g. RNAseq)
- cellular and molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (extraction of proteins, DNA and RNA from human and/or mouse cells/tissues, Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, PCR, gene editing, cloning
- confocal microscopy
