Position Summary

Preparation of various personnel and salary reports for the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources (CANR) including federal reporting, analysis of complex funding arrangements in addition to ad hoc reports/analyses/projections as requested by college leadership; reporting for budgets, creating college email distribution lists, reporting and managing the annual raise processes for the college. High-level data user, requiring advanced technical skills. Proficient in database software (i.e., MS Access) Able to query and develop reports through the University Data Warehouse.

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to, unit fiscal officer of budgeted and non-budgeted accounts; managing unit budget; ; assisting with annual General Fund, AgBioResearch (ABR) and MSU Extension (MSUE) budgeting processes; preparation of budget reallocations as related to above duties; liaison between customers and MSU central administration; provides support to departmental staff regarding college budget policies and procedures; resource person for ABR and MSUE fiscal staff and Dean/Directors.  College security administrator providing guidance and assistance to departmental staff in completing security requests for all University systems.  Primary security initiator for dean-level staff.  Reviews and approves HR actions and documents as a college approver. Other duties as assigned.

This position typically has a remote-work option but does require sometimes coming to campus for in-person work or events.

Minimum Requirements

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Accounting or Finance with relevant course work in Computer Science; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in professional financial statement preparation including cost accounting or auditing or registration as a Certified Public Accountant; may require experience in word processing, office management, spreadsheet, and accounting software; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

 

Desired Qualifications

Successful candidate can maintain attention to detail amidst multiple and competing demands. Excellent written and oral communication skills.  Excellent organizational skills. Demonstrated knowledge of experience in complex budgets and financial reporting.  Experience with MSU’s EBS system including all financial system accounts and transaction e-documents.  Expert knowledge in spreadsheet and database software. Proficient in database querying and developing reports from data warehouse tables.  Knowledge of University accounting policies and procedures. Three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in accounting, auditing or financial analysis.
