Position Summary(Basic Job Function)
This a temporary or on-call position. Provides clerical support. Responsibilities may include secretarial, receptionist, bookkeeping, information processing or related clerical tasks. Temps On-Campus: includes College of Human Medicine, the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Detroit Medical Center, and the College of Osteopathic Medicine at Macomb University CenterTerm. On campus temps can work six (6) months then terminate for three (3) months or switch to an oncall. Off campus temps can continuously work nine(9) month appointment with a one (1) week break in between. On-Call allowed to work up to 40 hours/week for three (3) months then must be moved down to 19 hours/week and cannot work more than 520 hours in any six (6) month period.
Unit Position Summary
Gift Shop Assistant, Kellogg Bird Sanctuary (Hickory Corners, MI)
he Kellogg Bird Sanctuary Weekend Resource Center Gift Shop Assistant works closely with customers to determine their needs and answer their questions about their visit to the Sanctuary, programs, events and products in the gift shop.
Responsibilities:
- Welcome visitors in an enthusiastic manner regarding their visit to the Bird Sanctuary
- Perform cash register transactions and complete daily deposits
- Maintain gift shop appearance by restocking product and maintain clean working environment
- Provide guests with trail information, upcoming events and Sanctuary activities
- Assist callers and visitors with general Sanctuary, Biological Station and wildlife related questions
- Miscellaneous daily office duties
- Periodically assist with special events.
Desired Qualifications
- Must be 18 years old with weekend availability
- Excellent communication skills – in person, phone and on-line
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- Accuracy and basic math skills for cash register operations
- Confidence to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to problem solve and make effective decisions
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
- Strong work ethic
- Enthusiastic about nature and wildlife
- Must have reliable transportation
