Position Summary
The College of Education is seeking applicants for the College of Education Executive In Residence (EIR). This position's main function is to deal with relationships with school districts and consider programming needs that meet the needs of the state. One of the dean’s perspectives to responding to our state’s needs of teaching shortages, engaging school districts, and enhancing the college’s relationships is to have an experienced K-12 leader who has extensive experience in educational leadership, building external relationships, improving the achievement gap, and forming partnerships.
The duties of the position would include:
- Have a collegial relationship with Academic Community
- Successful executive leadership in K-12 education
- Ability to form strong academic partnerships with K-12 schools in the State of Michigan
- Liaison with external partners and internal stakeholders to identify and test innovative strategies for using science and technology to improve K12 classroom instruction
- Work collaboratively with University Outreach Division and internal stakeholders to develop a set of intervention-based initiatives that CED can implement to support school districts and communities in the State of Michigan
- Maintain partnerships with officials of school districts across the State of Michigan
- Availability for significant interaction with school districts in urban and rural settings
- Develop and submit proposals to external entities
- Mentoring experience and willingness to share their stories and experience and assist students and faculty and academic staff with networking opportunities
- A strong interest and passion in students and furtherance of academic excellence

Doctorate
Minimum Requirements
- PhD in Education leadership or a similar area
- Evidence of extensive and progressive K-12 leadership positions
- Experience engaging with a wide range of education stakeholders including, teachers, parents, administrators, board members, neighborhood groups and organization affiliates including churches and community centers
- Evidence of initiatives that improved the achievement gap of underrepresented students
- Educational prowess
