Position Summary
Exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join the laboratory of NeuroImmunology of Pain (https://www.laumetpainlab.com/) in the department of Physiology at Michigan State University (https://sites.google.com/msu.edu/pslresearch/postdoc-opportunities).
Our lab (PI Laumet) investigates the contribution of neuro-immune interactions to the development and resolution of chronic pain in mouse models. We have a special interest in studying the communication between immune cells and neurons in the skin, DRG, spinal cord, brain, and meninges and leverage this understanding to identify new therapeutic strategies. Recently, the lab has been paying more attention to sexual dimorphism in neuro-immune interactions.
The Postdoctoral/Research associate will be supervised by Dr. Laumet. Additional guidance and training will come from senior members of the lab and collaborators. The Postdoctoral/Research associate is expected to participate in data dissemination (e.g. presentations at conferences) and writing manuscripts for publications.
We are particularly interested in someone with a strong experience and interest in neuroimmunology, pain, immunology, or neuroscience research. We expect the candidate to have experience with, or be committed to learning, transgenic models, molecular biology, flow cytometry, primary cell culture, calcium imaging, viral vector manipulation, in situ hybridization, immunostaining, animal models of chronic pain, and animal behavioral testing. The Postdoctoral/Research associate would have a strong record of presenting research, good communication techniques, and experience working on a team.
Candidate will be encouraged to develop independent ideas and apply for career awards.
Successful candidates will have the opportunity to mentor students, interact with postdoctoral fellows and research assistants in the lab, collaborate with different labs, and receive state-of-the-art training in neuroimmunology and pain research. Our lab is currently funded by NIH, Rita Allen Foundation, and industrial partnerships.
