Position Summary

Michigan State University, Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences has an immediate opening for a postdoctoral research associate funded by the NIEHS Superfund Research Program. The research associate will investigate dioxin sorption mechanisms by soil components, bioavailability of sorbed dioxins, and have opportunities for interdisciplinary collaborative studies in spectroscopy, soil microbiology, and/or environmental toxicology. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, soil chemistry, geochemistry, or related areas. Excellent organic analytical skills for trace levels of persistent organic compounds and mechanism-based research experience are desirable but not required. The position is available immediately or until an appropriate candidate is selected. This project is funded for 2022-2027, and work will be performed in a collaborative atmosphere among Drs. Hui Li, Stephen Boyd, and Brian Teppen at Michigan State and Cliff Johnston at Purdue. The research associate appointment will be initially offered for one year, with renewals depending on satisfactory performance.

Required Degree

Doctorate -Envr/soil/geo chemistry, or related

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in environmental chemistry, soil chemistry, geochemistry, or related areas

Desired Qualifications
