Position Summary
Michigan State University invites applicants to apply for the research assistant (RA) position for the 12-nstitution, NIH-funded National Center for Health and Justice integration for Suicide Prevention (NCHATS) (P50). Center projects are hybrid effectiveness-implementation studies that examine effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and scalability of suicide prevention approaches triggered through linkage of justice and health data for risk identification.
The study seeks to hire 2 full-time RAs to meet the needs of the study. The RA will be responsible for the collection of outcomes data for the 4 center research projects as part of the methods core work to turn each research project into a Hybrid Effectiveness-Implementation project. He/she will also assist with data collection for annual center evaluation surveys. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in psychology or related field and experience working with justice and health system partners.
Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in the specific field of research employment or other related science fields; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in standard laboratory procedures and safety requirements and performing analytical and research techniques in an area related to research being performed; may require software specific to the area of research; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position may require special licensing or certification in the field related to the area of employment.
Desired Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in psychology, public health or related field, two or three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in human subjects research, experience following research protocol, establishing rapport with interdisciplinary teams, experience with word processing, spreadsheet and proficiency with data and participant tracking software or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience working with justice and health system partners. The ability to troubleshoot and analyze problems and excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills are essential; experience working independently, commitment to maintaining confidentiality and strong computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Word. Completion of human subject training and certification
(online program) prior to contact with study data.
